Oklahoma One-Call System, Inc. (CALL OKIE) is a non-profit corporation, incorporated in the State of Oklahoma in 1979. Call Okie is a valuable tool used in preventing damages to public services. It is a communication link between the excavators and operators of underground facilities.

Call Okie is a safety and damage prevention program designed to promote public awareness and to eliminate potential hazards posed to excavators, general public, vital underground facilities and the environment, whenever excavation is done.

Location of member underground facilities will be marked with paint, flags and/or stakes, according to American Public Works Association (APWA) color codes. The approximate location of underground facilities is defined as a strip of land two feet on either side of the underground facility.
At the job site, be sure to "white line" or indicate the approximate area to be included in the excavation to provide locators an accurate understanding of the proposed excavation to eliminate unnecessary marking.

  • Must determine the precise location of the underground facilities by hand-dug test holes before using any powered or mechanized equipment.
  • Must dig safely and with care once the facilities are located and protected to minimize damage to exposed facilities.
  • Must notify operators of underground facilities if precise location cannot be found.
  • Must notify operators of underground facilities immediately when any damage occurs to facilities. Excavators must delay backfilling in the damaged area until repairs are made.
