Garbage Pick-up is twice weekly. Limit size of trash to no more than 35 gallons. (No 55 gallon barrels) Sanitation crews begin very early in the morning so set trash out the night before. When you consider the quality of life in Kingfisher, a clean and healthy environment is a definite asset. The Solid Waste Team of Kingfisher’s Sanitation Department is dedicated to keeping this a reality. Think about the average U.S. household that discards some 10,000 items a year with a total weight of over 1,500 pounds of trash. Kingfisher's Sanitation Department provides all residential households and commercial entities with a cost effective means to properly dispose of all non-hazardous, unwanted materials. The City of Kingfisher provides sanitation service to approximately 2,050 residential and commercial customers. All residential and commercial locations within the city limits are required to use the City’s sanitation services. Some areas outside our city limits have the option to use our services as well, check with City Hall to see if you are in one of these areas. The City has two garbage trucks and picks up residential and commercial garbage twice per week. The garbage is then unloaded into the Transfer Truck at the Transfer Site (just north of the Kingfisher Creek Bridge on Highway 81). When full the Transfer Truck delivers the garbage to the Canadian County Landfill in El Reno. Dumpsters are available to commercial accounts at an additional cost. Dumping on the ground around the dumpsters is not allowed and is considered littering. Regular residential and commercial trash service applies to bagged household trash only. The City does NOT provide trash cans to sanitation customers, we do ask you to limit the size of your trash can to a 35 gallon receptacle (NO 55 gallon barrels). Tree limbs, grass clippings, construction material, petroleum products, shingles, dead animals, etc. are NOT permissible items to be put in trash cans or dumpsters for regular trash pickup. Trash receptacles with any of the above mentioned items in these will be passed by and not picked up until those items are removed. Customers who already pay for monthly garbage service can take additional garbage to the Transfer Site at no cost (except for metal items or oversize items). Click here for map. There is a small charge for non-subscribed customers. There is also a charge for appliances, water heaters and other metal items. Refrigerators must have Freon removed by a licensed professional and have a tag attached to indicate as much. Grass clippings and tree trimmings may be taken to the transfer site for disposal free of charge. Our sanitations crews begin very early in the morning, any trash not set out will be picked up on your next scheduled trash day. You may want to set your trash out the night before to prevent this from happening. Any questions concerning your sanitation service should be directed to City Hall, 375-3705. You can check of the status of the Transfer Trailer before taking your garbage there for disposal by calling 375-6553. |
